Standing Draped Female

Sometime between 1930 and 1940, Jessie Van Hallen was commissioned by Wade Pottery of England to sculpt a series of figurines celebrating woman. Hallen named this one, Helga. Kent Art Ware subsequently copied Helga as seen on the right in photographs three and four. On the left is an inferior copy of a copy simply marked “Japan”. (To my sense of balance, all three Helgas appear to be on the verge of falling backward.)
